Working among the marginalized Adivasis and tea garden labourers
PAD is presently working among the marginalized Adivasis and tea garden labourers of Lakhimpur , dhemaji, sunitpur and Tinsukia District covering around 86 villages and 11 tea estates. It has recently started working among the children of 5 tea gardens in the district of Sonitpur, Assam. PAD is also working to promote peace and harmony and presently undergoing various analytical studies to understand and identify ways for conflict mitigation. And being a constant responder to disaster as well as a partner of the Inter Agency Group (IAG), PAD is also presently undergoing a project on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) in the 20 villages of lakhimpur.
Foundation Stone
Foundation stone of St. Don Bosco School was laid by Rev. Fr. John Bosco Xaxa on 26 th of March 2008. Fr. Bosco requested the Adivasi labours to educate their children. He also appreciated PAD initiatives regarding empowerment of the poor Adivasis.
“Karsang Ope” held Annual Conference
   
Mising Cluster of SHG “Karsang Ope” held Annual Conference on 29 th and 30 th of March at Naharbari village of Bordoloni Block. There were 1000 participant. Mrs. Lokh Mili (President Naharbari GP) and Mr. Debo Gogoi (ZPC ) addressed the meeting. PAD Promoted around 25 Mising SHG who are doing well. most of the SHG received Loan from Gramin Vikash Bank ,Gogamukh branch for IGP. The have engaged themselves on piggery, Poultry and weaving which is the cash earning activities of the Mising SHG.
Nawbicha Adivasi Culture Society
   
Nawbicha Adivasi Culture Society Held its First conference at Tunijan L.P. School on 5 th and 6 th of April 2008. Where Mr. Wilfred Topno and Mr. Godfrey Hereh attended as Chief Guest. Mr. S.R. Subba (MLA Nawbicha) and other GP, ZP members of the localities were other dignitaries attended the Conference.
