Wilfred Topno

Director and Secretary

Wilfred is the Director and Secretary of People's Action for Development.

Wilfred Topno is a community leader, author, social justice advocate and former teacher. He is currently the Director of People's Action for Development (PAD) and has been a founding member of and adivsor to many Adivasi and advocacy groups in Assam. He is the publisher of Adivasi Awaz News website and the founder/president of Adivasi Sahitya Sabha. He also established St. Don Bosco Lower-Primary School in Ananda, and several Adivasiya Schools.


Wilfred was part of the group that founded People's Action for Development in 2001, and he has been working with the organisation ever since. Under his leadership, PAD has established a proud legacy of initiatives aimed at improving the lives of marginalized communities over the past 2 decades.

As the President of Adivasi Sahitya Sabha, Wilfred has played a key role in promoting the literary and cultural heritage of Adivasi communities in Assam. He has written extensively on the subject, including works of fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. His writing focuses on the lives and struggles of Adivasi people and their relationship with nature.

Wilfred's work has earned him recognition both within India and internationally. He has received several awards for his contributions to social activism and literature.
